11th & 12th Grade Counseling

There is a lot of work than can be done to prepare and complete the admissions process in the last year or two of high school. Let our team support you so that reaching your goal is a positive experience. We can ensure that you build on your high school career in a meaningful way that also helps you reach your potential – all while navigating the critical points of 11th and 12th grade. Review activities we support and the different counseling packages below.

11th Grade Services Typically Include:

  • Review 4-year Academic Plan and Transcript Review
  • Review testing schedule
  • Complete Learning Styles, Personality, and Interest Inventories
    Review extracurricular involvement, community service, summer programs, internships, employment, opportunities for leadership, etc.
  • Discuss college budget with family
  • Create college list based on values, interests, strengths, academics, learning styles, criteria selection (size, location, activities, majors/careers, cost, scholarships, clubs, etc.)
  • Research/evaluate schools of interest
  • Plan 5-7 college visits, either in-person or virtual
  • Review Common Application to understand components
  • Review Common Application teacher letter of recommendation to determine choices and discuss accordingly
  • Review resources available and register for College Fairs
  • College essay draft(s) *Note: Many of the hours in this package will be spent on developing the essays, which will go through a creative brainstorming process, timelines, and multiple draft revisions with trained editors. This includes access to an intensive college essay writing module.
  • Finalize resume & learn how to tell a compelling story in your college application
  • Creating a meaningful summer plan: Support essay editing for summer, internships and volunteer programs
  • Interview preparation
  • Specialized applications for visual/performing arts, military academies, athletic recruitment, and accelerated health advising and any advising for auditions and portfolios may require additional services.

12th Grade Services Typically Include:

  • Prepare Naviance, SCOIR Maia Learning or Cialfo for application season
  • Finalize college list
  • Finalize essay(s)
  • Follow up with teachers about letters of recommendation and send necessary links
  • Finalize applications
  • Review scholarship applications/opportunities
  • College Admission Rep visits and follow up email correspondence
  • Campus visits review
  • FAFSA, CSS Profile basics; individual financial aid documents required by each school
  • Interview prep
  • Review results and discuss strategies going forward for both admissions decisions (offer and wait list) and financial aid and scholarship packages
  • Final transition meeting

Service Packages

We know not everyone needs the same support, so we offer a variety of options to meet the needs of each student and family.

Summit Package

Our team will be with you through critical points of 11th and 12th grade and ensure you can build on your high school career to reach your potential and aspirations. This package includes 8-12 meetings each year with our team of experts. By 12th grade students have developed a substantial partnership with their college counselor. Additionally, throughout this important time, students and families have access to their college admission consultant for quick questions, via emails, texts or phone calls.

Senior Sprint

It’s not too late! If you are in the fall of your senior year and do not have the support you need, we may still be able to help. Our Senior Sprint package provides robust and comprehensive advising in a shortened timeframe.

Throughout the fall, weekly or bi-weekly meetings (a more intense and condensed schedule due to the limited timing) allow for reviewing and finalizing your college list, application and essay support. Additional meetings as needed in the winter/spring are included for document submission, scholarships, and support for admissions and financial aid results.

Mission Driven Pricing

Basecamp College Consulting is a social enterprise of Peak Education, a non-profit organization aimed at closing opportunity gaps in the Colorado Springs community. We believe that every student deserves to reach for their full potential. As a result, we work with our families to ensure that our services are affordable and that we have a variety of access points depending on your family’s budget. Individual level services run from $150-375* per hour-long meeting based on the student’s needs and your family’s income level. Keep in mind that our model supports high-potential students from lower income backgrounds in the Colorado Springs community through Peak Education. Roughly 2/3 of all earnings through Basecamp College Counseling go directly to support students working with Peak Education.
